On June 2nd, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation, Davlatshokh Kurbonali Gulmakhmadzoda, made an official visit to Kuban State University. The delegation also included the Sales Representative of Tajikistan in Russia Murtazo Karimi, the head of the Tajik Embassy’s Department of Protocol Berkhuz Turayev, the Tajik honorary consul Nagizbek Nagizbekov, and the representative of the Krasnodar Regional Organization for the Revitalization of Central Asian Cultures “Sodeystviye” Ruslan Nodirshoyev.
Evgeniya Rotai, the acting director of International Affairs Department, acquainted the visitors with the history of the Kuban’s largest university. The delegation visited the University’s art gallery; the Ambassador showed great interest in several landscape paintings and highly appreciated the quality of the artworks.
The main goal of the Tajik delegates was to meet the KubSU leadership, as well as Tajik students studying at KubSU and other higher education institutions in the city of Krasnodar. Along with the KubSU students this meeting was attended by students from Kuban State Technological University, Kuban State Medical University and Kuban State Agrarian University.
During the meeting with Tajik students our guests delivered to them a message from the President of Tajikistan and answered the students’ questions. The Ambassador greeted everyone in attendance and reminded the students about the importance of preparation for final tests and exams. He also noted the KubSU’s well-organized infrastructure.
Davlatshokh Kurbonali Gulmakhmadzoda said that the development of national industry was a high priority for Tajikistan, making it important for Tajik students to attend Russian universities, which offer high-quality education in a wide range of subjects. The Ambassador noted that Tajikistan is an agrarian country that makes the study of agriculture a priority. As part of his message, which was largely devoted to educational matters, the President of Tajikistan emphasized the importance of developing the country’s higher education. The leadership of Tajikistan showed gratitude to Russian universities for preparing skilled professionals for the Tajik economy. The Ambassador also noted the annual increase in the Russian government’s education quotas for citizens of Tajikistan, and about 1,000 quotas will be allocated for them in the coming year. Aside from these federal quotas, the government is interested in negotiating with the regions of the Russian Federation in order to establish regional quotas for Tajik citizens who wish to study in Russian universities. For this reason, the Embassy aims to start cooperating more closely with regional authorities, national Tajik diasporas and the official representatives of Tajikistan.
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation also said that another central issue in the President’s message was climate protection. This is an issue of great importance for the whole world, and Tajikistan cannot stand idly by.
Aside from that, the Ambassador emphasized to the students the importance of following the laws of the Russian Federation. He noted that the students must respect the laws regarding migration and other issues, as well as refrain from illegal activity over the Internet.
he KubSU Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Social Affairs, Nikolai Redkin, thanked the Ambassador for his visit to KubSU and the opportunity for the students to ask their questions. He told the guests how the experts for the Republic of Tajikistan were being trained. In Kuban State University, Tajik citizens regularly receive a professional training as part of the main educational programs. For example, this year, 16 Tajik students are receiving a full-time education, 2 are taking correspondence courses and 1 is studying part-time. The Vice-Rector also said that students from Tajikistan chose a wide variety of programs, including geography, economics, journalism, mathematics etc.
Tajik students, meanwhile, asked the Ambassador about the possibility of studying on the basis of the Russian federal quota or undergoing contract service in the Russian armed forces for persons with Russian and Tajik citizenship.
In the end, Nikolai Redkin thanked the Ambassador and offered him a commemorative gift: an etching made by a professor at the Faculty of Art and Graphics. Afterwards, all participants of the meeting took a group photo.
