On 29 March, an online conference was held between professors and students of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology and the Faculty of History, Sociology and International Relations of Kuban State University and professors and students of the Department of Russian Philology and Slavic Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Athens, Greece).
Tatyana Borisova, Head of the Department of Russian Philology and Slavic Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Galina Redko, Head of the Department of Modern Greek Philology, and Evgeniia Rotai, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department of International Relations, welcomed the students of both universities.
During the event, Greek students studying Russian talked about Athens, introduced Russian students to the sights of their ancient capital and showed their presentations about the university, the campus, places to study and recreation on campus. Students asked each other questions about the national cuisine, traditions of both countries and famous cultural monuments. In addition, Greek students prepared a quiz on proverbs and riddles in Greek. In this way, the students of Kuban State University are broadening their knowledge of foreign languages and linguistic studies.
It should be noted that this is not the first meeting of students from these two universities. Last May, students from Kuban State University told their peers about Krasnodar and its sights, and in December the meeting was dedicated to the traditions of celebrating New Year and Christmas. The next conference is planned for the autumn of 2024. It will be devoted to poets and writers. Students of Greek and Kuban universities will prepare presentations and read poems of famous Russian and Greek poets.
