
On 24th of January, Kuban State University (KubSU) took part in a festive event dedicated to Russian Students’ Day, organized by the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Greece. The official part of the event was opened by Vyacheslav Sidleronok, director of the Russian House in Athens. He congratulated the students and guests on the occasion, wishing them success in their studies and careers. Welcoming speeches were also delivered by Ioannis Makris, director of the First Gymnasium of the Pallini (Attica), and Panagiotis Lipimenos, a member of the Council of the Association of Graduates of Universities of Russia and the USSR.
Evgenia Rotai, Deputy Director of the Department for International Relations at KubSU, delivered a welcoming speech in Russian and Greek. She expressed gratitude to her colleagues for their productive collaboration, which has resulted in large-scale projects aimed at promoting the Russian language, culture, and science — serving as a platform for dialogue and mutual enrichment. She also emphasized that KubSU offers opportunities not only for students but also for experienced professionals seeking to enhance their qualifications, gain new knowledge and skills, and remain competitive in their professional fields.
Guests from France also joined the teleconference, including Igor Zhukovsky, Chairman of the Russian Language Commission of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in France, and Olga Monmart, director of the «Surprise» School of Additional Education.
During the teleconference, Greek students studying at Russian universities under the government quota shared their experiences. They spoke about the educational opportunities available at Russian universities, as well as student life in Russia, including its cultural and social aspects.
The evening concluded with a festive concert by the musical group «Echo of Two Cultures», led by soprano Elena Usmanova. The event brought together students from Greek universities, graduates of Russian and former Soviet universities, attendees of the Russian language courses, students of additional education schools and their parents, as well as active members of academic and public circles.
