On 20 December, the final of Science Slam Kuban took place in the Orbita Conference Hall of the CROWNE PLAZA Hotel. The main point of the event was to tell the audience about their scientific research in an informal stand-up format — in accessible language and with humour.
Five scientists from Krasnodar region — including Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Kuban State University, Mikhail Porozhny — competed in the final of the scientific battles.
The scientists had ten minutes to talk about their scientific research and then answer questions of the audience. The evaluation of the presentations depended on the decision of the jury and the audience, which determined the best speakers by the volume of applause. Scientists, students and staff of Kuban State University came to the event to support Mikhail Porozhny.
With his speech and presentation entitled «Flies apart, cutlets apart — how membranes work», Mikhail Porozhny managed to captivate the audience with the results of his scientific research, which enabled the assistant professor at Kuban State University to take first place in the final of the «Science Slam Kuban».
