The success of Kuban State University is a result of long-term teamwork. The university’s academic services are provided by over 1,500 full-time academic staff, including 202 doctors of sciences, 815 candidates of sciences, 125 of whom have the academic title of professor and 477 have the academic title of associate professor and one academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Professors from Former Soviet countries, Asia and Europe deliver lectures at the University every year.
Throughout its more than a 100-year history, the academic staff of Kuban State University has prepared more than 100,000 highly qualified graduates, including over 5,000 living or working for 130 foreign countries.
The primary collegial body responsible for the overall management of the University is the Academic
Council, which includes Vice-Rectors, heads of departments, directors of branches, deans of faculties, leading professors and associate professors.
The election in 2008 of Mikhail B. Astapov as rector was a significant achievement for the University. Previous to his selection as rector, Mikhail B. Astapov had led the Department of Education and Science (now the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth Policy) of the Krasnodar Region. Rector Astapov identified new objectives for the University, including improving the quality and quantity of the educational and scientific offerings, with university emphasizing a socially oriented institution. Improvement focused on significantly updating the infrastructure of the university, including a new academic and administrative building, completely renovating the stadium and constructing a swimming pool and a gym. All academic buildings of the University were completely renovated inside and outside as well as the University’s Botanical garden. Significant modernization and updating of scientific laboratory equipment was made, and the computer classes were updated, etc.
Together with the development of infrastructure, effective programs were implemented to improve scientific and educational work, which allowed the University to bring the effectiveness of research activities to the higher level, to expand the spectrum and improve the quality of the educational programs, and win prestigious national and international awards in the fields of student creative activities and sports.
