On 24 March at Kuban State University was held a round table with international participation on the theme “Russia and Serbia in the twentieth century: two manifestations of a common identity” and was dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the beginning of NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. Welcoming speeches were made by: Temyr Khagurov, Acting Vice-Rector for Academic Work, Quality of Education, Acting First Vice-Rector of KubSU; Alexander Konanykhin, Minister Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Serbia; Mikhail Generalov, Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Serbia; Milana Yeremina, Chairman of the Board of KRPO “Yugoslav Society “Yugovici” (Brothers)”; Dragan Logvinov, Chairman of the Serbian-Russian-Belarusian Friendship Society (Cacak, Serbia).
During the round table, colleagues made presentations, discussing different sides of one common problem. They talked about information and psychological warfare on the part of the West, discussed the historical background of NATO aggression and many other things. The history of the twentieth century remembers no less terrible facts: during the Second World War, Serbs were subjected to no less terrible genocide, just like the Soviet people. The Jasenovac concentration camp was the place where hundreds of thousands of Serbs were exterminated just because they were Serbs. Russia and Serbia do indeed have much in common, and in such a difficult time it is important for us to feel a sense of brotherly shoulder. In this regard, the importance of such meetings and the topics raised cannot be underestimated (more information https://www.kubsu.ru/ru/node/43947).
