Kuban State University launches a new bachelor’s degree programme in Russian Cossack history and culture

Within the framework of the State Policy Strategy for the Russian Cossacks in 2021-2030 the Faculty of History, Sociology and International Relations of the Kuban State University on January 14, 2022 presented a new educational programme for the Bachelor of History and Culture of the Russian Cossacks — 44.05.03. Pedagogical education (with two profiles — History. Cossacks in the history of Russia).

The meeting was attended by graduates and tutors of Cossack cadet corps from Yeisk, Kropotkin, Novorossiysk, Brinkovskaya village. An introductory tour of the university campus was organised for the cadets.

At the official meeting the cadets were addressed by Alexander Kravtsov, Deputy Head of the Department of Cossack Affairs, Military Affairs and Work with Pre-Conscription Youth of the Krasnodar Region Administration, Maxim Medyannikov, Deputy Ataman of the Kuban Cossack Troops, Temir Khagurov, First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Valery Kasyanov, Head of the Russian History Department and Anna Dorofeeva, Head of the Department for Coordination of Cossack Cadet Corps Activities of the Department for Cossack Affairs, Military Affairs and Work with Pre-Union Youth of the Krasnodar Territory Administration.

Associate Professor Liudmila Galutvo spoke in detail about the new educational profile.

The proposed innovative project is aimed at training professional teachers for educational organisations of all levels, implementing the «Cossack component», specialists in methodological support of Cossack communities and associations in preparation of grant projects and implementation of state and municipal programmes in the field of education, cultural and educational activities of researchers of the history and culture of the Russian Cossacks as an integral part of the national history.

In 2023 15 government-funded places and 10 places under contracts are planned for the Bachelor’s Degree course 44.05.03 Pedagogical Education (with two educational profiles — History, Cossacks in the History of Russia).

At the end of the meeting the cadets received answers to all their questions and it was decided to continue the good tradition of cooperation between the Kuban State University and the Cossack Cadet Corps.

All speakers stressed the importance of continuity of Cossack education and cooperation between the Cadet Corps and Kuban State University.
