KubSU honored the best international graduate students

On July 3, Kuban State University honored the best foreign graduates and Pre-University Department students for foreign citizens and stateless individuals. This year, 86 students from 19 countries completed their studies at 15 faculties and 2 institutes of the university; at the same time, the Pre-University Department is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The University Rector Mikhail Astapov attended the event to congratulate the graduates and present letters of thanks and souvenirs to them. In his speech, the Rector emphasized that the graduates would always remain part of the KubSU family, wished all international graduates success in their professional careers, and invited them to continue their education at the university’s master’s and doctoral programs.

The event was attended by members of the university administration, including Dean of the Faculty of Economics Igor Shevchenko, Dean of the Faculty of Philology Evgeniya Zhirkova, Director of the Department of International Relations Galina Govorova, faculty members from the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and the Pre-University Department for foreign citizens and stateless individuals, as well as employees of the university campus and other university services.

During the ceremony, the results of the joint work on the socio-cultural adaptation of foreign citizens at KubSU and the Multifunctional Migration Center of the Krasnodar Territory were also highly appreciated. Rector Astapov presented a letter of thanks to the director of the Center Elena Demerdzheva. On her turn, Elena Demerdzheva thanked the university’s staff for their work and presented gratitude letters to the KubSU graduate students and employees who actively had participated in the development of a concise communicative guide for foreign citizens titled “What is for Russian … ?”

In the second part of the event, graduates of the Pre-University Department for foreign citizens and stateless individuals received certificates of pre-university training. The Pre-University Department, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2023, has provided pre-university education to approximately 2,500 people from 66 countries over the years. They have acquired the knowledge necessary for admission to institutions of higher education in the Russian Federation.

The students made a response and thanked the university administration, the department of international relations and teachers for good knowledge gained at the university and care for every international student.

It should be noted that in the 2022-2023 academic year, KubSU admitted representatives from 70 countries of the world. More than 900 foreign citizens are getting higher and secondary vocational education, while 120 students are learning Russian at the Pre-University Department.

International students are studying at all faculties and two institutes of the university. The leaders among the faculties with the largest number of international graduates in 2023 are the Faculty of Economics – 24 graduates, the Institute of Geography, Geology, Tourism and Service – 11 graduates, the Faculty of Law – 9 foreign graduates.
