In 2004-2022 the Department held more than 30 scientific events of national and international level. Under the leadership of leading scientists, a number of research projects were carried out, financially supported by Russian research funds.

Currently, the staff of the department is working on such projects as

• KSF project ¹ PPP-1.1/13 (21/203) «Formation of ecological culture of the youth of Krasnodar region: scientific justification of pedagogical support» (supervisor — M. Tereshina).
• Project FZEN-2022-0013 «Youth leadership in the regional practice of public administration of human capital development: strategies of success, opportunities, results» (Supervisor — A.I. Kolba), which is carried out under the governmental order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The Department of Political Science and Political Management organises the annual All-Russia conference «Stolypin Readings».

• Public and municipal financial management and inter-budgetary relations;
• Anti-crisis management of territorial units;

In 2017-2022, the Department held a number of scientific events at the international and all-Russian levels.

Under the guidance of leading scientists, a number of research projects were implemented, which received financial support from Russian research funds:

• RFBR grant 18-410- 230026 «Network public management model for the strategy of socio-economic development of Krasnodar region». (Supervisor T.A. Myasnikova) (2018-2019);
• Grant of the President of the Russian Federation for state support of young Russian scientists — doctors of science «Territories of traditional nature use and support zones of Arctic development: mechanisms of interaction of indigenous peoples, state and business» (Supervisor V.V. Gassiy) (2019-2020);
• RFBR project «Innovative mechanisms for the development of the market of environmental goods and services on the principles of «green economy» in the Russian Federation» (2019-2021).

The staff of the Department carry out a series of researches on the development of strategic planning technology and the practice of its application by public administrations. The following was carried out in 2019-2020:

• RFBR grant No. 18-410-230020/18 «Inter-sectoral links in a multi-level system of rural development management»;
• together with the Leontyev Centre (St. Petersburg), scientists of the Department participated in the development of the Strategy of long-term socio-economic development of Krasnodar region (state contract No. 01-OK-2016), subcontract «Main areas, goals, objectives and mechanisms of development of economic zones of the Krasnodar region»;
• municipal contracts for the development of municipal strategies for a number of municipalities in the region.

Within the framework of the scientific direction, an international scientific and practical conference EMLE was organised together with Hainan University (China), and annual conferences «Current problems of strategic management of territorial development» and «Institutes of local democracy in the management of sustainable development of local territories» were held.

Profile of scientific work of the Department: technologies for managing corporate and regional socio-economic systems, their analytical, information and documentation support.

Staff of the Department conduct basic and applied research in the following areas

• Controlling and knowledge management in the system of regional innovation ecosystem management;

Since 2009 the Department has been organising an annual international conference on the development of the economy and the knowledge society.

Within the scientific profile of the Department there is a seminar for undergraduate and postgraduate students «Problems of knowledge-based society and economy».

The research activities of the Department of Social Work, Pedagogy and Psychology of Higher Education include

Every year the Department organises scientific competitions for schoolchildren («Development of the social space of Russia») and students who have chosen helping professions of socio-economic type.

The Department consists of three professors, eight associate professors, three senior lecturers, one lecturer and one assistant.

Since the establishment of the Department, 1 doctoral thesis and 20 candidate’s theses in Psychology, 1 candidate’s thesis in Sociology have been defended by its members or under their supervision.

There are 2 doctors and 7 candidates of science in the Department.

• Topics of research works and services (supervisors — B. Yasko and A. Luzakov): Research and development of test methods for assessing competencies of candidates for positions of managers and specialists (2022);
• Study of work environment factors in the structure of socio-psychological predictors of hardship (2022);
• Development of competency assessment models for the selection of managers and specialists, assessment of candidates, development of documentation for the training centre (2021).

The Scientific School of Public Policy and Administration, headed by E. Morozova, was established on the basis of the Department.

The following scientific results were achieved:

• Development of the concept of regional political culture;
• Development of the concept of the political world view as a way of studying the subjective space of politics;
• Development of a theoretical model revealing the nature and peculiarities of public space;
• Proposal of a conceptual model of multilevel political management of conflicts;
• Theoretical substantiation of the model of political institutionalisation of social networks;
• Identification and characterisation of institutional and procedural features of public policy making;
• The potential of the intangible resources of rural development policy has been identified on the basis of conceptual developments and empirical research;
• The development of an explanatory model of the subjective space of youth policy has been the subject of research;
• At the level of empirical data, typical social profiles of Russian youth were identified and described.

The researchers of the department are part of the scientific school «Public Policy and Administration» under the direction of E. Morozova. The following main scientific results have been achieved:

• Development of the concept of the political world view as a field of research of the subjective space of politics;
• Institutional characteristics of regional and local public policy development were revealed;
• Institutional and procedural characteristics of public policy development were identified and characterised;
• The explanatory model of the subjective space of youth policy was developed;
• Typical social profiles of Russian youth are identified and described at the level of empirical data.

The Department is the basic department of the Southern Scientific Centre of the RAS, which conducts research on the potential for conflict and the conflictological expertise of the socio-political processes in the region in the context of regional security.

On the basis of the department the scientific school «Kuban school of local community development» was formed. The problems of local development are considered not from the point of view of the division of powers between levels of authority, but from the perspective of the interests of people living in local socio-economic systems and united by the common interests of living in certain areas, i.e. local communities.

Within the framework of the Scientific School, postgraduate students are trained in the postgraduate programmes 38.06.01 Economics (08.00.05 Economics and Management of National Economy (Regional Economics) and 5.2. Economics (5.2.3. Regional and Sectoral Economics):

Scientists of the department carry out research work within the framework of the established «Kuban school of local community development». The purpose of this school is to develop scientific knowledge in the sphere of life of local communities and on this basis to form the scientific potential of planning and management of territorial development, as well as to stimulate the department and the scientific community of Kuban State University to organize and conduct research work on problems of municipal and regional social and economic development, consulting and scientific methodological support of practical work of the State

Head of the Scientific School is Tatyana Avdeeva, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honoured Economist of Kuban. She is a well-known scientist in Russia in the field of municipal economics and local development management.

In 2022 the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Applied Linguistics and Public Policy Network Research was established together with the Department of English Philology, Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology. The head of the laboratory is Natalya Ryabchenko, Candidate of Politics, Associate Professor.
