42.03.01 Advertising and Public Relations. Profile: Advertising and Public Relations in the Media

Duration: 4 years (8 semesters)

Advertising and public relations is a relevant professional activity that is in high demand on the market. This field of education:

  • Provides students with a systematic understanding of the current state of the industry,
  • involves the study of existing and the development of new methods and technologies of advertising information product promotion.

The educational programme is up-to-date and practice-oriented.

Main subjects studied:

  • History of advertising and public relations;
  • History of advertising and public relations;
  • Integrated communication in advertising and PR;
  • Development, planning and preparation for publication of advertising and PR products;
  • Information management in the modern media environment;
  • Basics of image building.

The field of professional activity of graduates includes communication processes in interpersonal, social, political, economic, cultural, scientific and educational spheres.

The areas of professional activity of the graduates are:

  • Federal state authorities, state authorities of the constituent territories of the Russian Federation, local authorities;
  • non-governmental, public, commercial organisations and mass media;
  • scientific organisations; industrial and service enterprises.

Types of professional activity:

    Organising the promotion of mass media products
  • Organising media marketing research,
  • Developing marketing strategies for media products,
  • Organising events, helping to increase sales of media products,
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the results of the promotion of media products.
    Information resources management:
  • Organising work on creating and editing content,
  • Managing information from various sources,
  • Controlling the content of the website,
  • Analysis of the information needs of visitors to the site,
  • Helping to modernise and promote the site.
42.03.02 Journalism. Profile: Information Work

Duration: 4 years (8 semesters)

Full-time program

Journalism is a classical field of study. The educational programme is aimed at training an active, competitive specialist of the new generation who is familiar with international practices of media production and has analytical skills in the field of media production and/or media products, management of media flows and forecasting their impact on social and cultural processes in Russia and the world as a whole.

The programme ensures

  • the formation of students’ systemic understanding of the modern structure of the media, including the study of existing and the development of new methods and technologies for the production, processing and distribution of media texts and/or media products;
  • education based on the introduction of modern scientific achievements into the educational process, allowing the study of the most important disciplines with practical examples of media experience in Russia and abroad, as well as an organic combination of the best Russian and foreign traditions.

Main subjects studied:

  • Theory of journalism;
  • System of domestic and foreign mass media;
  • Theory and history of literary and journalistic activity;
  • Semiotics of the media sphere;
  • Basics of television and radio journalism;
  • Creative work of a journalist;
  • Creation and production of modern media products
  • Practical Journalism.

Types of professional activity:

  • Reporter, correspondent.
  • Collecting, preparing and presenting current information to the public through the mass media;
  • Monitoring news and planning activities, obtaining information for material;
  • Processing and checking information, preparing material;
  • Publishing newspapers, magazines, radio, television and news agencies;
  • Working on the content of publications in the media;
  • Choosing the subject of a publication;
  • Selecting material for publication;
  • Editing materials.
42.03.03 Publishing. Profile: Editing and Publishing

Duration: 4 years (8 semesters)

Full-time program

The programme

  • is up-to-date and practice-oriented,
  • provides students with a systematic view of the modern structure of the preparation, production and distribution of media products on physical and digital media,
  • involves research into existing methods and the development of new methods and technologies
  • introduces students to technical and software tools, management, economics and marketing in the field of editorial work in modern mass media.

The main subjects studied:

  • Foundations of Editing. Theory and practice;
  • Practical and functional stylistics of the Russian language;
  • Print and electronic media;
  • Editorial preparation of publications;
  • Multimedia technologies in the professional sphere;
  • Basics of production processes. Theory and practice.

Types of professional activity:

Editor, literary editor, editor-in-chief, news editor, editor-in-chief.

Working on the content of media publications:

  • Preparing material for publication,
  • Selecting authorial material for publication,
  • Editing.
  • Organising the promotion of media products:

  • Organising media marketing research,
  • Developing a marketing strategy for media products,
  • Organising events that contribute to increasing the sales of media products.
