The Faculty was founded in 1970 with the opening of the programme «Industrial Planning» and the enrolment of 150 students. The University had already accumulated experience and strong traditions in teaching applied economic disciplines, which were provided by the Department of Political Economy, headed from 1968 to 1991 by Valentin Gotlober, who contributed significantly to the creation and development of the Faculty.
Today the Faculty successfully solves many scientific, pedagogical and methodological problems: the creation and implementation of modern programmes of all levels of education, from bachelor to doctoral studies, the introduction of modern practical disciplines into the educational process, ensuring the consistency and coherence of economic and business education.
Students of the Faculty are the recipients of state and personal scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Russian Federation, the Administration of Krasnodar Region, the Potanin Foundation, as well as scholarships of leading companies of the region and Russia: the Smart Scholarship of Center-Invest Bank, the Alfa Chance Scholarship of Alfa Bank, the Personal Scholarship of Sberbank, the Cargill Scholarship and others. Graduates of the Faculty work in key positions in government agencies and enterprises of Krasnodar region, Adygea Republic and other regions of Russia and the world.
The Faculty publishes the journal «Economics: Theory and Practice», which has been included since 2015 in the list of peer-reviewed scientific publications of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
